Wine Details

Opaque purple in color, with beautifully pure aromas of blueberry and blackcurrant, joined by hints of wood smoke and anise. Dense and chewy on the palate, the rich fruit flavors are perfectly merged with ripe tannins in a long, albeit tightly wound, finish. Definitely decant this puppy. Lot 502 is big on structure, with plenty of backbone and very elegantly deployed French oak. The wine is considerably richer and bolder than your typical vintage on Spring Mountain, and is definitely a candidate for near and long term cellaring. Dynamite juice.

Sourced from two rocky, steeply terraced vineyards both about 1000 feet up the mountain. Lot 502 is from one of the best vintages we’ve seen on Spring Mountain since 2008. 2012 was not just a high quality vintage but high quantity, resulting in just a wee bit of extra wine available where often there is none. It’s been quite some time since we’ve had a Spring Mountain Cabernet. Along with Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain sets the bar for what is considered “mountain fruit” in California, so enjoy this incredible deal while you can!

Lot 502 is deep, dark, and classic mountain cab! Wish I could purchase more!

Got this cab last year and just drank a bottle. In the year since it has open up and taste like a big Napa valley cab. Would buy more is was available. This want happens when you get small lots, get them when their hot.

And a great value.

I wish I could keep my hands off these Spring Mtn cabs and let them develop a bit more. Tight dark fruit with nice barrel and some coffee notes. Give this wine at least a couple hours of air and the fruit can take a comfortable seat at the table. This is more of a cab for dry, tannic big boy fans, buy them up while you can!

I had the pleasure of drinking this wine with someone who ordered it before it got sold out once again. This wine has an amazing taste and is such a smooth drink. The only disappointment is that its never available.

Bold full fruit, bit of black pepper. Opens up nicely upon decanting. Decent cab, not my favorite. Worth the price.

I heard about this wine on the radio and thought I would give it a try. For the price, I expected a bit more. In my opinion, there are a few cabs in the $13-18 range that I like better than Lot 502.

Great value if you love Spring Mountain reds like we do. We bought several of the 502s from the website. I served this with a leg of lamb dinner a few weeks ago with rave reviews from our guests. Please decant for at least an hour as it improves dramatically. We wish we could find more. When you compare price, you can't go wrong.
