2014 Arroyo Seco Chardonnay
Same producer as Lot 476 (90 pts & Gold Medal, Critics Challenge 2016); Our perennial best-selling white wine! Buttery, tropical, delicious.
A gorgeous amalgam of ripe mango, honeysuckle blossom, blood orange and butterscotch on the nose. The wine's lively high notes are balanced by a full-bodied, unctuous palate and a honeyed beam of acidity that exhibits why Arroyo Seco is such a special place for growing Chardonnay. Rich, ripe, lush and perfectly balanced…If you like the style of Rombauer or Talbott Chardonnays, you are going to love this wine.
This is the 5th year of our most popular Arroyo Seco Chardonnay program, and with this vintage I sought to go back to a deeper, richer, more tropical style; something that's more in line with the fantastic 2009 vintage. 2014 was another winner of a harvest (our third in a row, but I’ll not venture to curse ‘15) with near perfect ripening conditions, replete with warming and cooling trends that allowed for extended hang-times and a relaxed, pick-it-when-its-perfect crush scenario. 60% of the fruit was barrel fermented in new American oak, the remainder in stainless steel.
