2014 Arroyo Seco Chardonnay
90 pts & Gold Medal, Critics Challenge 2016; Our perennial best-selling white wine! Buttery, tropical, delicious.
A gorgeous amalgam of ripe mango, honeysuckle blossom, blood orange and butterscotch on the nose. The wine's lively high notes are balanced by a full-bodied, unctuous palate and a honeyed beam of acidity that exhibits why Arroyo Seco is such a special place for growing Chardonnay. Rich, ripe, lush and perfectly balanced…If you like the style of Rombauer or Talbott Chardonnays, you are going to love Lot 476!
Style: Light, Fruity
Flavors: Butterscotch, Honey, Vanilla
This is the 5th year of our most popular Arroyo Seco Chardonnay program, and with this vintage I sought to go back to a deeper, richer, more tropical style; something that's more in line with the fantastic 2009 vintage. 2014 was another winner of a harvest (our third in a row, but I’ll not venture to curse ‘15) with near perfect ripening conditions, replete with warming and cooling trends that allowed for extended hang-times and a relaxed, pick-it-when-its-perfect crush scenario. 60% of the fruit was barrel fermented in new American oak, the remainder in stainless steel.
