Wine Details

Beautiful dusty nose of plums, cassis, and white flower high notes. On the palate, this is a rich, lush glass of wine as far as Rutherford Cabs go – plum and dark fruit flavors in abundance, with terrific oak integration and savory spice notes on the finish. Archetypal Napa Cabernet from one of the most prestigious sub-appellations. ta

As with Lot 285, we have to keep most details under wraps, but I can disclose that this magnificent vineyard is nestled in the finest earth in Rutherford and was originally planted by a famed Napa vintner in the early 1900s. It straddles the old Conn Creek drainage, which has deposited gravelly loam soils over thousands of years and provides truly exquisite growing conditions. Year after year, numerous single vineyard designate wines produced here have consistently been awarded scores in the mid to high 90s by Wine Spectator and the Wine Advocate, with prices ranging from $75/bottle to over $500/bottle for the top blocks in the vineyard.

whats not to like? A great wine for a great price

The wine opens up with the classic Rutherford aroma of lush dark fruit with highlights of tart red berry notes. Flavor follows with nice acidity underpinning textured dense sweet fruit. Some mocha interplay along with iron-fisted tannins wrapped in the decadent fruit velvet glove results in a Cab that is meant to be enjoyed over a few hours and a lovely savory meat dish. Outstanding.

What can I say, that famous Rutherford dust does it again. If I only
bought more. Can't wait for 2013 vintage.

I expected a little more finish but I was certainly NOT disappointed. All of Cam's wines are very drinkable and I liked this cab - pjc

So I bought 2 cases of this Cab, took one bottle out to try. Excellent, you can tell you have a great big Napa Cab in the glass. Lots of fruit, the glass is just dripping with legs. I will try not to touch this for at least another 2-3 years. If I'd paid $45-70 for the bottles I would only have 4-6 of them and I would write "do not drink until 2020" but since I paid way less, I can dig in starting 2017-18. Highly recommended.

Generally a drinkable wine - just not quite in the "buy again" category for my taste.

Another Home Run with Lot 452. A very mild wine that you can enjoy in your basement watching a movie. The nose is more floral than fruit. On the palate, the oak comes through very well with the dark fruit and lots of pepper on the finish. The Merlot that is present in this wine really mellows it out creating that smooth, refreshing finish. In my opinion, not as good as its counterparts Lot 285 or Lot 345, but nevertheless, a close 3rd place when comparing to those other 2 wines, is saying a lot about this wine. Drinking well now so no sense in aging this any further. Enjoy it with friends...they won't be disappointed.

Wow. I put my nose in my glass and was blown away. I decanted 1/2 my bottle and waited 30 min. Wonderful. I will soon order more and set aside half my order for a few years. Fantastic bang for the buck. I vote yes to #452
