Wine Details
Lot 446 walks the line between Old and New World. The nose is vibrant and inviting, with plum, cherry and raspberry fruit notes accented with hints of white pepper. Amply fruited on the palate, with cherries and clove in a long and pure finish. There is a lot of complexity here – perfect balance, and obvious quality that punches way above its weight class. Terrific everyday drinker and a great table wine. If you’re looking for a perfect food-pairing wine to grab by the case and serve with every meal, this is it!

Cariñena is located in the Aragon region of Spain, the spiritual home of Spanish Garnacha (Grenache). Our old friend Juan sent his winemaking team over to meet me late last year, and they brought some samples of their latest work! Though the lineup boasted 12 year old Gran Reservas and lovely Viuras, the wine that really stood out for me was the inaugural vintage of their single varietal Old Vine Garnacha, grown from 40-60 year old bush vines – I was simply blown away by the quality. This wine can now be found in select wine shops throughout Europe, but we are proud to report we are the first to bring it to the US!
