Wine Details
Ripe aromas of berries and savory oak, augmented by tobacco leaf and mocha. The palate is bright, exhibiting flavors of candied red fruits, blackberry, and currant, ending with a lingering finish of oak and vanilla. 2011 may have been a challenging vintage, but you wouldn’t know it by tasting this wine – all the color, extraction, and structure that you’d expect from a Napa Valley Cabernet in a riper vintage.

Born from secret vineyard clones (smuggled into Napa from a European estate known for producing brighter and more exotic Cabernets), the coming out party for this vineyard’s original vintage arrived with a bang at its auction debut over a decade ago, when it was bested by only two other wines in a group of 100 (one of which was Shafer’s Hillside Select). Originally produced for the owner's eponymously named winery, this wine ended up being surplus goods, and we were happy to take it off his hands.
