Lot 437 is a blend of 57% Sauvignon Blanc and 43% Semillon. The Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in stainless and partially aged (again, sur lie) in neutral white barrels, and the Semillon is barrel fermented and aged sur lie in French oak barrels (50% new) specifically created for this particular cuvée. The creator of this fabulous wine is a long-time friend and has overseen this vineyard for 20 years now. His first bottling in 1993 continues to amaze to this day.
Make your guests say "Wow!"
This is one of those wines I selfishly couldn't review until it was sold out. I had to get my fill before the word got out too much - it lives up to the claim of CHWine's best white of the year. It is unique from their typical offerings and just screams quality. I look forward to what a couple years of aging will do to these beauties and look forward to more "top shelf" whites in 2015.
keeping an eye out
Keep checking back in hopes that it will reappear in stock, but am afraid that ship has sailed. The half case I picked up is nearly gone. Hoping for some more SB from CH IN 2015!
The best of your white wines that I have tasted.
It does combine the right depth of taste with perfect acidity. Your likening it to a Haut Brion Blanc is an accurate description.
Very fine balance and enjoyed by we neophytes as well as friends that have toured many vineyards in California are are more refined in their appreciation of white wines.
Please locate more of this great wine !
I don't drink much white wine, but I tried this one with the turkey at Thanksgiving and I loved it. Nice blend took the sharp edge off of the Sauvignon blanc. Please find some more similar to this...
This wine i perfectly balanced. Sometimes after a glass or two of Sauv Blanc it can get a little tart tasting. The addition of the Semillon makes for a delectable taste to the end of the bottle. Love it.
This wine has everything: the SB brings a zippy, beautiful acidity, but the Semilion brings in an indelible richness, body, and an incredibly surprising finish; long and sustained.
Cameron offers very few dry whites so I was very excited to try this one! I was not disappointed! It's crisp and fresh and goes well with chicken, fish, spicy Thai, cheese/crackers or just plain sipping. Ordered one case, then quickly ordered another one!
Very well rounded with body.
We enjoyed this with some cold smoked salmon and it was not over powered. Full bodied without being overpowered by any individual grape.
I really enjoyed this Cali take on a classic Bordeaux blend. Fresh, crisp pears lead to a mix of mineral-lemon grass characteristics. The Semillon truly adds a layer of depth that is greatly appreciated. I paired this roasted pork, and the wine was really able play with the unctuous character of the protein.
