2011 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

90 Pts: 2014 Wine Enthusiast; Gold Medal: 2013 Cabernet Shootout; Recommended in SF Chronicle; A true Napa Valley grand cru.
  • Critics Challenge Gold Winner
A brooding black core with hints of magenta reveals the magnitude of Oakville Cabernet…tightly wound on the nose with coffee and blue/black fruits. The nose is very dense and there is a huge core of fruit here just beginning to unwind…give it a good couple of hours in a decanter for near-term drinking. After a few minutes of swirling, hints of cassis and graphite develop…gets better every time you stick your nose in the glass. Big, yet deftly balanced across the palate, with a chorus of blue/black fruit and savory spice meshing with chewy tannins. Very pure with exceptional length…just a baby, granted, but a gorgeous baby at that.

Style: Full, Smooth

Flavors: Blackberry, Graphite, Spice, Tannins
