Lot 392 2011 Saint-Joseph (France) Syrah

Lot 392
2011 Saint-Joseph Syrah

Old-world Syrah from a super high end producer in the Northern Rhone.
  • The Taster's Guild International Gold Medal
“Wow” nose…tremendous freshness and life. It exudes effusive, Old World aromas of leather, white pepper, raspberry, and earth. On the palate, it displays terrific structure, and continues with notes of kirsch-ey white pepper, raspberry, and barnyard. It has a low alcohol content (12.5%), and is wonderfully balanced. Truly authentic French country wine on the opposite spectrum from the big powerhouse Napa Cabs, but every bit as good if you value balance, complexity, and food-friendliness.

Style: Medium, Smooth

Flavors: Earth, Pepper, Raspberry

Cam Confidential
This is one of those super small-Lot, uber wine-geeky finds from our connections in the Northern Rhone. Sourced from a very high end producer and sold under its original label for about $60-70, we couldn't pass up this opportunity when it came our way. A real candidate for your cellar, and definitely something to pick up if you're a fan of our Crozes Hermitage offerings or our Côte de Nuits-Villages from Burgundy.
