A Great Wine, So So Bargain
At $18, this was far from the best bargain, but a very good Rutherford Merlot nonetheless. Bring back more!
Nice bouquet, with a silky smooth pallete
Enjoyed our six pack of bottles with various fruits, cheeses and grilled beef and pork. Great bottle of wine at a reasonable price for the past holiday season. I would highly recommend when it becomes available next season.
Rutherford Merlots are great
Really enjoyable merlot with that distinctive Rutherford flavor (think I've heard it described as Rutherford Dust before). Haven't had a merlot in awhile with so many other types to have, but this was a great one to get back on the horse with! Rich and smooth, a real velvety merlot to enjoy immediately.
Good everyday red.
After straying from Merlot for a bit (and no, Sideways was not to blame), I picked up 6 bottles of Lot 388. I enjoyed it....but it wasn't as smooth or silky as other Merlots from other producers that I've enjoyed in the past. It was a bit thin for my liking. I will absolutely enjoy trying the other bottles with other food pairings to get the most out of my experience. Solid table wine but nothing extraordinary.
Good wine, great value
Great wine to serve with cheese & other side dishes.
Loved this Merlot!
I admit it, the movie "Sideways" has had a lingering impact on my wine selection process for more than a decade. Merlot was considered "forbodden" in my house. But I missed this varietal so, I did the unthinkable and ordered this Merlot. Since is it CH and I am a big fan, I knew I would get quality, whether I was in to it or not. So with trepidation (and of course hiding in my kitchen lest anyone know that I am cheating on Pinot for Merlot) I opened Lot 388. I poured, I sipped, I swallowed. I tried my best not to like it - I really did. But, oh have I missed this varietal - this wine. Rich and lush, full bodied but oh sooooo smooth, like a velvet hammer. I continue to buy 388 and when it is gone, I will be despondent. This has been the best new love affair I have had in a long time! ;-)
Light for a merlot.
It is good but too light for a merlot. If you like light reds this would be a good wine for you.
Great wine, great value, Rutherford-esque.
I have to admit a bias towards blueberry but still, for the price, a great wine with approachable fruit yet amazing structure. I think those WS fans who like huge monster Cabs, and Merlots and Syrahs that taste like monster Cabs, might not like it, or even taste it, but we drink a lot of St. Emilion and Medoc and so like the medium weight, supple style of Merlot in general, and this wine is like that. Love the Rutherford dust that emerges with opening time, and also admit am a sucker for that. Based on how it decants versus other wines it seems have potential to get better with time.
Too light and thin for my taste. Disappointed and would not purchase again.
A good Merlot
It was a good value.
