2011 Mendoza Malbec Reserva (Argentina)
Gold Medal: Dallas Morning News; Ripe cherry, plum on the nose; full bodied and balanced dark fruit.
Dark and intense fruit on the nose redolent of mocha chocolate, meaty berries, leather with a beautiful violet lift. Plums and licorice are dark and concentrated across the palate then turn savory and smoky with a suave, persistent finish featuring roasted meats, coffee and blackberry notes. Dense and chewy yet silky and fine-grained throughout. Balancing acidity lends itself to a solid structure for further development in the bottle. Fantastic effort and definitely worthy of your attention. Decant for at least an hour and hold for another decade.
Style: Medium, Fruity
Flavors: Blackberry, Chocolate, Licorice, Mocha, Plum
