What a difference 8 years makes!!
Fortunately we had the presence of mind to lay down 6 bottles of this wine back at the release date. What a treat to revisit this wine after an 8 year maturation! Superbly well rounded, with all the notes of leather, Forrest floor, and spice so well integrated and balanced with the cherry and black fruits. Tannins are polished and smooth with an extraordinary looong finish. This was a genuine treat to experience.
Bought a bottle, sold out before I could buy more.
This is the kind of wine you buy a case of.
Stylis and Elegant
I would say this is a wine that captures the true style of Cameron Hughes wine. This cab has a smooth, silky structure with elegant aromas of cherries and plums. Well balanced mouthfeel with red and black fruit flavors and a hint of spicy oak. Enjoy it now or cellar it for a few years. Drinking beautifully tonight.
Cellared for now
Keeping this in the rack for later drinking
A lot of olive on the nose, with hints of white pepper as well. Love the dark fruit flavors and layers of this wine. It's definitely a little bit leaner and not as fleshy as some of the other cabs I've had, but this is still a total winner.
Mushroom, tobacco, leather, and a lot of olive on the nose, with blackcurrant and earth flavors. Pretty complex wine.
