Lot 306 2010 Casablanca Chardonnay is pristine and fresh with abundant pear backed up by butter and honey. The fruit is intense yet elegant with the minerality of a great Burgundy. The aromas of pear and nectarine lead to wave after wave of peach fruit with a kiss of cream.
You'll recall my fervor for this wine last year and I am pleased to tell you this one every bit as good, if not better. 2010 was a terrific year for the cooler coastal climates of Chile and a slight improvement over 2009 which, we thought, brought us some terrific wines. At this price point, you're getting one heck of a wine.
