Wine Details

While still swaddled in baby fat that requires a good decant, this wine is voluptuously textured and intense, merging power, delicacy and freshness. Pure blackberry, lavender, fresh truffle, crushed rock and licorice aromas are mirrored on the palate with fresh fruit and rock with hints of licorice.

Cam Confidential

Lot 297 2009 Crozes-Hermitage is from the same producer as the Lot 296, just the latter vintage – and what a tale of vintages it is. While the 2008 is lithe and harmonious, the Lot 297 2009 Crozes-Hermitage is rich and powerful – a feature of the fantastic 2009 harvest in France. Like the Premier Cru Sauvigny-les-Beaune, it would be ideal for this wine to see a couple of years in the cellar. That said, it's a fun comparison and worth cracking a bottle of the 2009 just to compare the vintages.

Serious wine. Dark berries and graphite on the nose. Very tight at first, but very dense. Opens up well; becomes a different and better wine. Give it time and it over-delivers. Will age well for years. At this price, a steal. I'm buying more.
