Last year, we purchased the 2008 and 2009 versions of this Pinot, both sourced from a famous Santa Maria vineyard. Lot 268 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir is aged in 50% new French oak, these are ultra-premium Pinots built to showcase the best fruit in cool-climate Santa Maria and are about as close to Burgundy as you can get in California – the fruit profile of our Sauvigny les Beaune echoes throughout this wine.
Lot 268 2008 Santa Maria Valley Pinot Noir was purchased in barrel and it reflects the entire program (a little less than 500 cases). Given that this wine had previously been priced in the $45-$50 per bottle range, the terrific provenance and meticulous winemaking is evident here, this is an absolutely screaming deal at $15.
