Wine Details
The nose is intense yet clearly still evolving with black berries, dark chocolate and more earthy components like forest floor and graphite. On the palate the wine is quite huge with a firm beam of crème de cassis that runs square into a wall of big-grained tannins wrapped in dark fruit notes. A massive wine with great fruit purity and length, this wine will continue to get better with age.

Lot 253 2008 Howell Mountain Cabernet combines fruit from two vineyards, one chosen for its fruit impact, the other for its structure and depth. Both are located at 2000+ foot elevations and farmed to the exacting standards insisted upon by winemakers whose wines command $75-90 price tags. The winery on this project, which must remain anonymous, has spent over 30 years making Cabernet from these sites and is as heralded a producer as they come. To boot, Lot 253, like Lot 143, was just awarded a Double Gold Medal from the 2011 Tasters Guild Wine Competition.

With age comes perfection
Unfortunately, this wine has been sold out for some time, but I opened up a bottle from my cellar last night and was very pleased on how it has developed. It has matured into one of the best Lots Cameron has released...and I have procured nearly every one. Smooth with a long and marvelous finish. The high alcohol content is completely unnoticed, but speaks to the depth of this wine.
If you have this one, it's ready!
