Dear Friend,
Remember Lot 189 2008 Stags Leap Cabernet? Today’s release, Lot 323 2009 Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the same vineyard and winery source, though we got considerably less wine this vintage than last (where I think we actually bought the entire production). There are only 600 cases so you’ll want to move fast.
Here are my notes: Aromas of brooding earth infused with notes of chocolate, tobacco, dark berries, wood spice and violets. On the palate, succulent dark fruit grounded with broad reaching supple tannins. Lavish.
Overall this is a more elegant style of Cabernet with pretty fruit and a finesse-driven structure. Lot 323 is just a baby now having only gone into the bottle less than three months ago. So if you venture to open a bottle now, I highly recommend the 24 hour decant we have outlined many times in this newsletter (Decant the wine for an hour and then funnel it back into the bottle and replace the cork. Let sit overnight and enjoy the following evening). Better yet, I recommend you put a case of this wine down in your cellar and forget about it until this time next year.
As always, if you have any questions regarding this release, any of our other wines, or just general wine questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 1-800-805-1971or email us. We are always happy to hear from you. |
