Dear Friend,
Today’s releases are “Field Blends” affectionately known here as Rocket Juice ;-) Big, rich, powerful wines with explosive aromatics. Each of these two blends has its roots in the rocky slopes of winemaker Sam’s Madder Lake vineyard, located just north of Mount St. Helena in Lake County.
Our first wine, Lot 339 2010 California Field Blend, is blend of primarily Syrah with lesser quantities of Mourvedre, Petite Sirah, and Grenache to complete the wine. The resulting blend will be appealing to those of you are fans of big, rich reds. It’s warmly fruited and rich across the palate with archetypal Syrah fruit, cherries and red plums enmeshed in savory, meaty notes. If you like the Lot 243 Field Blend or any of our more powerful Syrah’s this is your wine. At $13/bottle, it's a steal.
If Lot 339 has a visual “red” profile, then Lot 348 2009 California Field Blend has a visual tasting note that is purple/black. A blend of Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Syrah, Cabernet, and Carignane, Lot 348 is a dark wine with purple edges and a concave nose that draws you in to the dark fruit and subtle spice. Its rather immensely structured and has a very linear beam of tannins wrapped in blue and purple fruit – it’s a remarkably elegant wine, but with a powerful core.
This is a very unique offering, but don’t buy it for that reason – buy it because you like dry, powerful red wines you can age that happen to offer stellar value. Just like Lot 339, this wine at $13/bottle is a steal.
As always, if you have any questions about these or any of our other wines, please email us or call us at 1-800-805-1971.
