Dear Friend,
Today’s release reflects the bounty of the 2009 harvest in Napa Valley – great quantity and terrific quality. My own impression of '09 wines has been one of great in the barrel and until recently, quiet in the bottle even after bottle shock. As the wines now approach six months in bottle, they are finally beginning to show their ripe, bright fruit qualities.
Our release today, Lot 279 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet, is really showing well right now and was picked in early October, just before the rains. Our source winery, located in the Stags Leap District sells this wine for well over $50 and bottled the same base wine we did (though different final blends I’m sure). Sourced primarily from the Rutherford and Stags Leap AVAs, this wine is a gorgeous example of Cabernet grown off the valley floor, showing a beautiful nose of ripe dark plum, blackberry pie, and lush cassis fruit – classic eastside Napa Valley. The palate is equally rich and dense with chewy tannins, dark fruit, and espresso notes all packed in a velvety framework. This wine is beautifully balanced throughout. Lot 279 is meticulously made from terrific vineyards and highly pedigreed winemakers and is an incredible value at $20
As always, if you have any questions regarding this release, any of our other wines, or just general wine questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 1-800-805-1971 or email us. We are always happy to hear from you. |
