Dear Friends,
We are officially back in the Pinot Noir game in a big way. The fantastic 2012 harvest saw a tremendous increase in both the quantity and quality of Pinot Noir from all over the state of California. Out of the ’12 vintage, we secured Pinot Noir from the Santa Rita Hills, Paso Robles (yes, Westside Paso by the Templeton Gap makes excellent Pinot), the Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma (yes, the western edge of Dry Creek, like West Paso, grows superb Pinot Noir), Monterey, and Arroyo Seco. And, of course, today’s release from the Russian River Valley. With all these wines, 2012 is certain to be a breakout year for Pinot Noir from Cameron Hughes Wine!
Lot 395 2012 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is simply delicious wine. The fruit comes to us from a famed RRV grower with simply too much fruit above their contracts (wines from this vineyard typically retail well above $30). We got the Pinot at a very attractive price, and are passing the savings along to you. That said, I think it’s a fair question to ask: How we can release 2012 vintage Pinot in July? It’s truly a feature of the vintage - with all the hang-time you could ask for, the resulting fruit was perfectly ripe. With just about 6 months in barrel (25% new French oak), this wine was ready to go into the bottle in May and is drinking great already.
Inviting aromas of fresh raspberry, cherry and cola spice swirl around a dark earth core of forest floor, black fruits, and wet stone. Beautifully aromatic and intense. On the palate, a juicy texture is supported by dark fruits and cherry spice along with well-integrated French oak. Terrific structure is perfectly balanced by broad sweeping tannins. No need to decant - just pop and pour!
As an introductory offer, I am offering a 10% discount for case purchases and 15% off two cases or more if you buy before midnight on Sunday night.
