Firstly, Happy New Year! Looking forward to a fantastic 2012 and we are happy to share our first release of the year - our delicious Lot 311 Moscato. The timing is perfect - bubbles and sparkle!

So, after a few years of fruitless searching, we finally came up with a terrific Italian Moscato producer last Spring to regale us with the delicious and ridiculously popular Lot 228 Moscato (which sold out in a flash). The good news is we are back with the 2011 version from the same producer. Yes, that’s right, 2011. Moscato is the earliest ripening varietal in Europe typically picked sometime mid to late-August, but this year, the grapes ripened quickly and were pickled early in August and went into the bottle in October – a bit like Beaujolais Nouveau, but better. Lot 311 2011 Moscato D’Asti is the real deal and every bit as good as last year’s wine – bright and fresh with beautiful aromas of honeysuckle blossoms and white peach. Delicately sweet and lightly frizzante, this wine is playful and aromatic across the palate, making it a terrific aperitif or great just on its own.

I have written a lot about how my wife Jessica swooned after finding this Moscato. Since tasting it, she has recommended this wine to everyone she knows and asked me to include this part in the email, "Buy this wine for the ladies you love, they are cerain to love it. Try it, even if it's the only Cameron Hughes Wine you buy in 2012!".  A bit dramatic I agree, but that's my girl! ;-)
