Dear Friends,

If Lot 400 is elegant and stunningly beautiful, Lot 404 is powerful and focused. The wine for Lot 404 was assembled from the same vineyards as Lot 189 (92 points Wine Enthusiast). The best metaphor for this wine is a sailing one - well appointed and glorious.

Lot 404 2010 Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon's final blend is elevated with small lots of Atlas Peak Cabernet and Calistoga Petit Verdot, and spent 18 months aging in 100% French oak barrels.

Lot 404
combines power and elegance in a divinely proportioned wine.  It features a pure bouquet with beautiful liquid minerality, hints of graphite, and exotic spice punctuating black fruit essence. A package that is just beginning to unwind. In a word, ethereal.

Across the palate this wine shows real “sap” (or what the French would call “sucrosite”) and a silky texture that contrasts blackberry essence and a spine of fine-grained and succulent tannins.

This very pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon is just beginning to unveil itself, and while a 24 hour decant will certainly do this wine justice, I think another couple of months will integrate the wine nicely.

Could you drink this wine today? Sure. But the reason Stags Leap Cabernet is so famous is its ability to age beautifully. Whether it is a couple of months or a couple of years, do yourself a favor and give this fantastic wine the time it needs – your patience will certainly be rewarded.

If you have any questions about Lot 404, do not hesitate to call or email. I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,

Cameron
