Lot 359 2011 Columbia Valley Riesling/Chenin Blanc is a perfect example of how Washington State continues to excite the marketplace with compelling wines and terrific values. Now in its third vintage, our Reisling/Chenin Blanc combo really sings with lush fruit from the Riesling and lip-smacking acidity from the Chenin Blanc. Sourced from 30 to 40-year-old vines, this yin and yang combo is the perfect accompaniment to salads (fruit driven or otherwise), spicy Asian cuisine, and general lollygagging poolside. 2011 was a cooler vintage and it shows in both the nose and palate of this wine – racier all around.
The aromatics are brilliant and seductive with super-fresh nectarine, peach, and fresh cut apple all wrapped in white floral notes. The palate is juicy and mouthwatering with fresh acidity carrying sultry nectarine and more white flowers. The wine has good length and exceptional balance with a vibrant and fresh finish. All in all a delicious bottle of wine and one that continues to rapidly evolve and gain complexity. A stunning deal at $11.
