Dear Friends,

Quick question – other than Cabernet, can you name another of our top 3 best-selling, most awarded wine categories from 2013?

Your guesses probably didn’t include California Field Blend, but believe it! These wines are a perfect example of our never ending quest of over-delivering on quality for the price. Lot 339 (92 Pts, Best in Class: 2013 CA State Fair; Gold Medal: 2012 Denver International Wine Competition) and Lot 362 (Gold Medal, Best of Class: 2013 CA State Fair) were huge sellers for us last year. And why not? They’re bold, beautiful wines that both average 4.5 stars in customer reviews, are sourced from top producers in California, and are just about unbeatable in terms of quality for price. And today’s first release is no different…

Primarily sourced from the same vineyards as fan favorite Lot 362, Lot 386 2011 California Field Blend is a fantastic wine that begins with a Zinfandel base, with layers of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and a touch of Graciano to round things out. If you're a fan of the Field Blends we've released so far, you won't be disappointed with this one.

Opens up with a beautiful nose of raspberries and spice. The palate is juicy and begins with a spicy top note, with flavors of raspberry and the dark fruit impact of Petite Sirah. The Petite Sirah really adds muscle to the wine, but it definitely still retains the soft and fruity Zinfandel elements as well. This is a delicious, complex wine that's still perfect for everyday drinking. At $12/bottle, it's an absolute steal. This comes just in time, too – we just sold out of Lot 362 last week and we’re on our last hundred cases or so of Lot 339!

Our second release today is a candidate for the best Sauvignon Blanc we’ve ever gotten our hands on: Lot 407 2012 Santa Ynez Valley Sauvignon Blanc is a fabulous single-vineyard production from Vogelzang vineyard, located in the south-eastern corner of the Santa Ynez Valley. The winemaking team here is absolutely top-notch, and the world has noticed – Wine Spectator has consistently awarded their Sauvignon Blancs scores of 91+, and the wine has also been found gracing the tables at Thomas Keller’s Per Se, "the best restaurant in New York City” according to the New York Times.

Delicious nose of lemon zest and honey, with a mango/guava bass note. On the palate, there’s tremendous depth, density, and complexity. It’s definitely not made in the light zippy style – this was barrel fermented in oak as well as stainless steel, and delivers big, rich mouthfeel. Awesome, top-shelf Sauv Blanc that effortlessly elevates a meal. This typically starts at $30+ under its original label, and is an incredible value at $15. We only got about 400 hundred cases of this stuff, so grab it quick, folks.

As a New Release special offer, go ahead and take 15% off any purchase of 1 case or more through Friday night at midnight (Wine Club members get 20% off) as long as it includes one bottle of Lot 386 or Lot 407 (mix and match the whole store!).

As always, if you have any questions or need assistance with your order, please don’t hesitate to email us or call 800-805-1971.

Cheers!
