Captivating nose of black and red fruit, iron, iodine and licorice. Powerfully built, dark and meaty, this wine is built more like a Northern Rhône red and will reveal its beauty over the next 5 to 10 years before becoming something truly profound about 20-25 years out.
The 2012 Gevrey-Chambertin Reserve “Les Evocelles” vineyard from Domaine des Tilleuls is another old vine masterpiece that will have tremendous appeal to those of you who like to cellar and drink Napa Cabernet. Sourced from the high-altitude and chalky soils of the Les Evocelles, this Pinot is the definition of “rustic”. Enjoyable now with a couple days of air on the bottle, but it really is a bit of infanticide to drink now. There are only 5 cases of this phenomenal wine available, and less than 200 were produced. A rare opportunity to sample a unique, super small production, artistic Burgundy.
