Wine Details

Wine Spectator review: 92 points - Shows some maturity already, with singed spice and gently mulled cherry, raspberry and plum fruit flavors, framed by light vanilla and cedar threads on the finish. Drink now through 2025.

Right up the middle stylistically, this blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre is garnet red with a gorgeous nose redolent with smoky, spicy cherry/raspberry notes enveloped in meaty, gamey purple florals. It lands on the palate with real depth and dimension, featuring gobs of peppery raspberry, cedar and roasted vanilla notes that get real traction with just a bit of air. From a weight perspective, this CDP lands somewhere in-between a full bodied CA Pinot and Napa Cabernet, and is sure to please just about any red wine drinker. Immensely pleasurable, imminently age-worthy and collectible.

Cam Confidential

I was very happy to receive this week’s Wine Spectator “Insider” report (retailers and suppliers get early look at Spectator’s scores before publication) and find the wine I had just directly and exclusively imported not only featured prominently among their high-scoring Châteauneufs, but by far the best deal in the category. Why pay $99 for a 92 pt. Chapoutier or $95 for a 91 pt. Beaucastel when you can buy a 92 pt. Domaine des Sénéchaux for $39 direct at chwine.com? (normally $50-$60 retail). A spectacular example of pitch-perfect, classically constructed CDP at a great price. Certainly a wine to decant and a must to let rest and recover a few weeks after it arrives.

We just opened this bottle and wow it is excellent! My husband is not a big wine drinker so it's difficult to find one he likes so when he said he really liked this wine I came back to order more. It is very smooth and light...quite nice!

I bought two bottles, and both of these were excellent. The aroma is the best part, but the flavor is great too - nicely rounded, with complex interplay of flavors. Definitely opens up after decanting an hour.

I like wine...wine, wine, wine

Very nice and representative of Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC. Couldn't wait for it to open up but the flavors were earthy, well rounded and full. May be picking up another bottle!

A wonderful, well balanced wine. Very smooth and tasty, typical of fine Châteauneuf du Pape’s.

Would not have bothered to review yet, but for the incongruity of the one-star review below. Bad bottle? Travel fatigue? The single bottle I sampled before sealing the case for a good while was everything Cam described. Even at $39, I felt it was a steal. Upon reflection, I may be persuaded to try another bottle soon.

I have been drinking CH Wines since Lot 300 and this is my first bad review. I don't know if I got a bad bottle or what, but this wine was very UN-drinkable. I even let it breathe for 7 hours and still, pretty horrible stuff. I love the friends of cam wines but I am sticking to the Lots!!

Opened and put in decantor for 6 hours.
WOW did it ever open up.
