The family estate of Clos du Mont-Olivet in the south of France is one of my favorite producers of collectible Rhone blends, and what Wine Advocate describes as “one of the great estates of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.” While their Châteauneuf is terrific, today’s offering is the more affordable (but still sublime) Côtes du Rhône red blend named after their grandfather, A. Seraphin. A delicious cuvée produced from vineyards passed down over generations, this is an excellent addition to any enthusiast’s collection. Hand harvested, fermented on indigenous yeasts in cement tanks, and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
