Wine Details
A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the wine saw 16-18 months in 70% new French oak. Lively aromas of licorice, graphite, raspberry and black fruits, freshly tilled earth and spicy oak. Juicy yet robust on the palate with well-resolved tannins, earthy chocolate complexity and lots of length.

The Becot family, owners of the Grand Cru Chateau Beau-Sejour in St. Emilion, saw both tremendous potential and as well as a kinship with St. Emilion in this upper-elevation Cotes de Castillon site located just southeast of Beau Sejour itself. They spent a fortune revitalizing the property with a new winery and better farming practices (the most intensive in the region, I’ve read) and, with the help of consultant to the stars, Michelle Rolland, they have crafted a delicious, age worthy Bordeaux combining modern viticulture with traditional aesthetics.
