Pours a dark core with a brick-red rim showing its 10 years in the bottle. Complex on the nose with spicy red fruits, leather, tobacco, and cinnamon sitting astride a funk-driven dark fruit and earth core. It's supple and seamless on entry, offering waves of earthy dark fruit and coffee that quickly turn zippy with red fruit driven acidity finishing with plush leather and red flower aromas. Simultaneously mature and fresh, dense and light, velvety yet firm.
This is a true "cork-dork" expression of Syrah - an unabashedly old world wine full of barnyard funk that will appeal only to the most devout Italian enthusiasts.

In no other region of the wine world have I experienced such a healthy and vibrant ecosystem as Trentino – the term “verdant” doesn’t do it justice. Surrounded by the towering Dolomites, this place literally glows green.
Today’s release comes from Azienda Agricola Pravis, a family producer with some the most picturesque vineyards you’ll ever encounter. The wines are spot-on classic Italy, with no tolerance whatsoever for new world pretensions, each a unique expression of the their respective varietal. This is a wine truly reserved for the most hardcore Italian enthusiasts amongst us.
I wouldn't serve it to guest. One bottle in 3 undrinkable - vinegar.
Let me start by saying how much I've enjoyed Cameron Hughes wines over the years since you opened. The wines I've had which were sourced on the west coast have always been very good to great. The 2007 Pravis Syrae is far below the Cameron Hughes standard in my opinion. Of the 3 bottles I've had one had turned to vinegar and the other 2 were on there way to being gone, turning brown, with little flavor and harsh unpleasant edge. Thanks for asking!
