Taste: Dark wine. Bright cherry and raspberry fruit on the nose, with chocolate oak notes and hints of licorice and mint. A dusty character hints at more to come. The entry is super-smooth and supple with a juicy mid-palate, solid core of integrated tannins, and a long, clean finish with hints of raspberry. With awesome balance and very approachable structure, this is a great wine for parties as well as to drink while waiting for your Lot 49 to decant.
Cameron Confidential: We were approached a while back by some folks who had noticed what we had been doing through their sales manager here in the US about 2 years ago. We were impressed with their wines and sent winemaker John down there to raid the winery and put some blends together. The first blend is this fantastic Meritage—super smooth and approachable, it's a ridiculously inexpensive everyday drinking wine. This wine will continue to improve. Reason: We added a big dollop of black-as-squid-ink Carmenere that scored 90 points as a stand-alone under their own brand.
