Taste: Dark red, almost black, wine. Nose of ripe blackberry with chocolaty oak notes and hints of cassis. The midpalate is fleshy and ripe with more blackberry and cherry fruit and undertones of sweet espresso. Overall this wine is rich and round with medium grain tannins carrying the fruit nicely through the long finish.
Cameron Confidential: Lot 72 highlights what is best about the Meritage designation, namely flexibility. We started this project with some very pricey Cabernet made by a prestigious Napa Estate dating back to the 70’s and improved it with two fantastic 2005 Napa Merlot’s which, due to be outside the “buy cycle” for bulk wines, we got for a song. The result is a wine CHW would normally sell for $17 ending up being $12 (or $9.99 in Costco). This wine is ready to drink now and is a total crowd pleaser. Bring this to your next weekend get together and the word “genius” will be whispered behind your back.
Also, if you were a big fan of Lot 23, this is about as close as we get.
