Lot 145
2008 Santa Barbara County Chardonnay
Flavors of honeycomb, Asian pears and orange blossom with crisp acidity.
SKU# LOT14508B
Rich, golden center with a matching rim. Aromas of raw honeycomb, Asian pears, and orange blossom shine through the nose. The bold mid-palate parallels the opulent fruit expected of Santa Barbara County, and French oak is apparent and well integrated. Subtleties of caramel and butterscotch provide a nice base for the dessert-like fruit. Classic Santa Barbara sherbet qualities show and are inspired by the ripe fruit and crisp acidity. With great viscosity and structure, this wine is drinking beautifully right now.

Cameron Hughes (CH) Lot 145 Chardonnay, Santa Barbara County, CA, 2008 - Wine Review and Rating
Find Cameron Hughes Lot wines at WineZap.
By way of background: The Cameron Hughes Lot 145 Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County in California, vintage 2008, is part of the wide Cameron Hughes line. This chardonnay was aged in a mixture of oaks and was finished with 14.1% alcohol.
In the glass: This is clear with a vanilla/lemon cast.
On the nose: Poured without a decant, served at cool cellar temperature and swirled vigorously, aromas are muted, soft marsh grasses and even more muted hints of pear and apple.
On the palate: A soft, full, lush palate comes on more aggressively than the nose would ever suggest. The sweet, clean fruit fills your mouth, bringing sweet, slick chardonnay to the back of your palate. The viscosity reminds of butterscotch, but the flavors are clean and true to the grape alone.
And the finish:Settles without notable acids along the fringes of your mouth and into your cheeks, leaving a clean wash, ready for the next sip.
In summary: Just tips the three star mark on the five-star Spirit of Wine scale. This becomes a best value by virtue of its attractive price.

I cannot stress to you enough what a bargain this wine is at around $12 per bottle. I am genuinely impressed with everything from Cameron Hughes so far!
