Dear Friends,

Well, I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I know I was particularly thankful, thankful for 15 year-old-scotch, Lots 86, 92, and 93, curried carrots and stuffing, and the Wii gaming system which I just discovered (yes, I have had my head buried in the sand for the last few years). Had to call three Costco’s before finding one and driving an hour and a half to get it the next day. Carbon neutral I was not.

Anyhow, today is officially Cyber Monday and I thought we would throw our hat in the ring for your hard earned dollars with a couple new releases and an invitation to peruse our online store for your holiday gift giving needs (keep it simple, right?, and get all your shopping done at one place!)

Don’t forget to use your Lot Locator to find wine deals at your local Costco as well.

Also, in keeping with the holiday spirit, I would like to announce that for this entire week all case purchases will come with free gift bags should you desire them. Simply assemble your desired case, or cases, and indicate the number of bags (one bag per bottle please) using the link in our online store.

New releases – Lots 83 and 98

Lot 83 2006 Alexander Valley Cabernet
($14) – baby brother to Lot 71 Alexander Valley Cabernet both stylistically and structurally just a bit younger. If you were a fan of Lot 71, don’t miss out on Lot 83. The nose has opened up considerably since my original tasting notes a month ago showing blackberries and raspberry on the nose underpinned with sweet oak notes. This wine comes to us from one of the oldest wineries of Sonoma County, founded in the 50’s, with hundreds of acres of some of the most storied vineyards sought after by the likes of Paul Draper of Ridge Vineyards (though this wine has zero affiliation with Ridge). Lot 83 is a wonderful winter warmer with the classically approachable style of Alexander Valley but will age beautifully over the next 5-7 years. $14/bottle - compare at $28.

Lot 98 2007 Grenache/Syrah/Mourvedre Campo de Borja, Spain ($10) – the classic GSM combination finds a phenomenal new home in Spain. If you like fleshy, meaty, spicy wines from the Rhone then you’ll love this wine – especially at a price last seen there in the 70’s. Lot 98 was sourced for us by winemaker John but I remember showing it to our California-based winemaker (David) and the stunned look on his face when I told him the price. We bought the whole production, about 5,000 cases, despite the unheard of appellation. Spicy, chewy, fun yet age worthy, this the ultimate party wine so buy by the case. 2008 was the Year of Spain in the wine business, find out why.

For fans of the Samplers with Free Shipping, check out our new December Sampler featuring some of our best Lot Series wines from 2008. Three bottles each of Lot 61, Lot 83, Lot 92 and Lot 93.

That’s about it for now folks. Enjoy shopping our store and getting a big chunk of your holiday shopping done all at once. Don’t forget to add Lot 25 bubbly to your shopping list as New Years will be upon us shortly.

Happy Holidays!

Cameron
